LA RAGAZZA DEL TRENO - PAULA HAWKINS

Finalmente anche io ho avuto la possibilità di leggere questo libro. Devo ammettere che il caso editoriale che è stato creato attorno al racconto mi sembra eccessivo. Questa copertina è stata pubblicizzata ovunque e questo ha fatto crescere in me delle aspettative. Non metto in dubbio che sia un intreccio intelligentemente architettato, ma la sostanza non è molta e non ho nemmeno vissuto l'effetto sorpresa sconvolgente che è la chiave di volta in un thriller. Credo che abbia avuto molto successo perché coinvolge tre figure femminili, che psicologicamente sono instabili e le mette in contrapposizione a tre figure maschili che vogliono assumere a loro modo un ruolo dominante. Inoltre, al suo interno si parla di molte problematiche reali e che spesso fanno scattare una vena di compassione e di malinconia nel lettore, ossia l'alcolismo, l'infertilità e la violenza. Sono temi molto sentiti, soprattutto dalle lettrici, ma penso che l'autrice si sia soffermata troppo su di essi e li abbia solo associati ai personaggi, i quali sono stati svuotati dalle loro proprie caratteristiche. Il ritmo è un po' monocorde, nel senso che sembra proprio l'andamento di un treno che tende sempre a essere uguale e poi di colpo frena e le sue ruote stridono sulle rotaie. Non posso sapere se era l'obiettivo dell'autrice, tuttavia posso affermare che a volte ha funzionato e altre ha reso lo svolgimento banale. Ad ogni modo è un thriller che è stato per lo più apprezzato e per questo sarei curiosa di sapere cosa ne pensate voi. Quindi, se non lo avete ancora fatto, leggetelo e sappiatemi dire!

Finally I've had the opportunity to read this book. I must admit that the editorial case that was created around this novel appears to me to be excessive. There has been a lot of hype about this book and this has given me big expectations. I don't doubt about the plot that was well structured, but there is not much substance to it, also, I didn't live the perturbing surprise effect that is the key to a good thriller. I believe that this book has had a lot of success because it involved three female figures, that are psychologically unstable and the author puts them in contraposition with three male figures that want to have a dominant role. Furthermore, this book talks about a lot of real life problems and these frequently induce in the reader a sense of compassion and melancholy, such as alcoholism, infertility and violence. There are very important themes and really felt by people, most of all from female readers, but I think that the author lingered over this too much and she associated these to characters, whom were deprived from their characteristics. The rythm of the book is monotonous, in sense that it appears as the going of a train that tends to go always at the same speed and abruptly hits the brakes and the wheels screech on the rails. I don't know if this was the goal of the author, but I can say that this sometimes works and other times gives the tale a trite development. Anyway it is a thriller that was really appreciated by the general public and because of this I am be curious about what you think. So, if you haven't read it already, read it and comment on!
